August | This August wedding at Blockhouse PDX featured a vibrant citrus inspired design with colorful florals and a greenhouse setting. We provided Signature planning support to manage the vendor team and coordinate a lively celebration that included the couple's dog and a high energy reception.

There is something inherently magical about a wedding at Blockhouse. Tucked away within the lush Pomarius Nursery, it feels like a hidden sanctuary right in the middle of Portland. For this August wedding, the bright summer sun and the greenhouse greenery provided a beautiful backdrop for a day that was overflowing with life.
The ceremony took place in the Orangerie under a canopy of draped fabric and glowing cafe lights. The couple stood in front of a stunning floral installation filled with warm oranges, pinks, and yellows that popped perfectly against the deep tropical plants. The bride wore a gown with incredible sheer billowing sleeves that matched the whimsical garden aesthetic, while the groom looked sharp in a light grey suit with a floral tie that tied the whole palette together.
For the reception, we set up long family style tables with soft blue linens and amber glassware. Dried citrus slices and fresh lemons were scattered across the tables, adding a playful and organic touch to the design. We especially loved the personal details included, like the hand painted duck cake toppers and the custom napkins featuring the face of the couple's dog. Their German Shepherd was a huge part of the day, even joining them for the ceremony, which made the whole atmosphere feel so much more personal.
This was such a lively crowd and the energy never dipped. After a dinner full of heartfelt toasts, the group moved into an evening of high energy dancing and celebration. They even had an illusionist put on an amazing show for guests. The bright, textural florals and the impeccable styling made every corner of the venue feel intentional. It was so clear to everyone there that the bride and groom are a perfect match. They are truly two bright souls who found their better half.
The couple worked with us through our Signature Package. Leading up to the big day, we focused on streamlining the vendor communications and building a timeline that allowed for a smooth transition from the ceremony to the party. By handling the logistics and day of management, we made sure the couple could stay present in every moment with their guests and their pup.
Helping a couple with such amazing taste bring their vision to life was a highlight of our summer. Blockhouse was the perfect canvas for their vibrant, modern style, and we are so grateful we got to be a part of their story.
